A word from the (retiring) webmaster

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who has visited this website since it started. It's been gratifying to know that people enjoy reading about and viewing what we do at Wincanton Camera Club, and it makes the time spent on the project worthwhile.

However, having been running the website since its inception, the time has come to step aside and make way for some new blood and fresh ideas. The new webmaster for next season will be Andrew de Mora, so I hand him the reins and wish him well. I hope he enjoys the role as much as I have over the last few years.

Thank you.

AGM

May 14 saw us meeting for this year's AGM, annual awards and print panel competition.

Please click on the photo to the right to read more. Jim Eastaugh used some Photoshop magic here to show us what it would have looked like had Amanda White been able to be with us to receive her prize. We let her off as it's a long way to come from Nova Scotia, even for a club award!

The conclusion of the meeting was also the end of our season. We will reconvene in September. In the meantime have an enjoyable summer with, hopefully, many great photographic opportunities along the way.

Ups and downs competition v Shaftesbury

Shaftesbury Camera Club visited Wincanton on April 30 to take part in a competition with us on the theme of "Ups and downs".

To read more, click on the photo to the right. This image, "The only way is down", by Jim Eastaugh, was one of six that scored a maximum 20 points on the night, and three of those six were Jim's work.

The gallery of images from our internal competition on this theme is now available for general viewing and can be seen by clicking here.

Sackville exchange

We met on April 16 to view and consider 20 images sent to us by Sackville Camera Club, of Nova Scotia, Canada. In Amanda White both clubs share a member!

Open competition

We met on April 2 for our final internal competition of the season. The subject was "Open", so anything went. Note to committee: perhaps one day we should have a competition where the theme is a set subject of "Open". Not an Open theme, but a theme of "Open". You know what I mean!

A wide variety of pictures was on show, with members demonstrating the breadth of their photographic interests.
