I took this picture at the end of April last year, while wandering the myriad of footpaths that can be found in and around Wincanton.
It was taken around 4.30 in the afternoon after a typical day of April showers, just one of several photographs I had taken that afternoon. I love the cloud effects that this type of weather can sometimes produce; that and trees. Put them together and you can sometimes wind up with some magical pictures. But it was not until I was looking through all the pictures on my computer wondering what photos to enter for the Open competition that I came across this one.
Wincanton has got some lovely walks with spectacular views, especially on the north side following the Monarchs Way from the town down to Rectory Lane. In this picture, I have come off the Way and walked up a footpath that leads to a stile, which I climbed over and took the photograph. In this picture the path carries straight on up beside those trees to my right and joins a footpath that goes up into Wincanton. To my left a track leads to the trees over there in the centre of the picture. These trees are hiding a beautiful avenue of trees which joins a path leading into the town.
This picture was taken in RAW format using a Sony NEX C-3 camera, with adjustments made to the picture using Photoshop Elements. Finally it was converted to a JPG image.
