Amanda is our overseas member, living now in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Her images suggest that there is a treasure trove of photographic subjects to be found in that part of the world!
I chose this image because it was the most exciting location I have entered to date whilst Urban Exploring.
It took many weeks of researching simply to locate it. Urban Exploring is not for the faint of heart and is considered 'on the edge of legal'. The ethos of this type of photography is to 'take only photographs and leave only footprints'. Locations such as this are challenging and often dangerous; rubber boots and masks were a requirement here.
The interior was all that I expected and more. The peeling paint was quite astounding and really does create the whole ambience of the shot. As someone who loves textures in images, shooting this interior was like finding the holy grail. The area from which the shot was taken was pretty cramped so a tripod wasn't an option.
This image is a 3 exposure hand held HDR, blended initially in Photomatix and then finished off in Nix Colour Effect Pro by adding a little cross processing. I also added a little vignetting to create a slight through the keyhole effect.
